AnimalVillageNM is a non-profit rescue, meaning that our work is funded solely by donations from caring people and organizations. With euthanasia numbers growing in New Mexico-  the state with the highest pet abandonment rate per capita in America- we have expanded our low-cost spay-neuter program, added rescue transport, and are now delivering pet food to food banks in both Otero and Lincoln Counties. We are committed to transporting thousands of death-row pets to no-kill shelters with approved homes waiting in more vibrant adoption areas. Why? Because every dog or cat deserves a wonderful life.

 

As we combat the number of pets being destroyed by transporting them out of high-kill areas, we are also meeting the problem with the solution- LOW COST SPAY & NEUTER. Our P.A.W. program has subsidized thousands of surgeries for low-income guardians since 2007. We started the program in Lincoln County, NM, then expanded it to Otero County, and are now expanding into the underserved area of Chapparal, NM. We SO appreciate our donors- because while we continue to do the hands-on, ‘heavy lifting,’ it is ONLY with the financial support from people like you that our non-profit can continue! As long as people like you continue to make it possible for us to meet the expenses, AnimalVillageNM will continue to provide emergency transportation for pets on euthanasia lists in "kill" facilities, and to provide low-cost spay-neuter surgeries to low-income guardians- who otherwise would not be able to afford to spay and neuter their pets. The temporary solution is to get dogs and cats off the euthanasia lists, and to quality homes- the BIG solution is affordable spay and neuter, to prevent the suffering of unwanted litters. Meanwhile, with our pet food bank, we also support the emergency needs of dogs and cats who would otherwise go hungry, with our donations to pet food banks in our area.
